Help us get a critical member of Black Python Devs to DjangoCon US 2025!

DjangoCon US is a stronghold in the Python community, widely known for being a welcoming pipeline into the world of contributing to open source. Maybe the impressive success of Django Girls, that celebrated its 10 years giving one-day workshops in hundreds of cities across the world bring tens of thousands of marginalized genders into the ecosystem (myself included) in 2024, or perhaps is the accessibility of the Django documentation, conference schedule or the framework itself.

For accountability and celebration, I will be listing the co contributors to Black Python Devs :

  • Dawn Wages $300
  • Bryan Clontz $100
  • Jasmine Greenaway $150
  • Scott Hanselman $300
  • Michelle Sandford $100
  • Carol Willing $300
  • Anonymous $300
  • Cheuk Ho $200

To contribute, please use my PayPal link: www.paypal.me/dawnmichellewages.

Note: 100% will go to Black Python Devs. 2026 Dawn will worry about paying the taxes later. <3 Thank you so much for your contribution.

Estimated Costs:

  • Flight: $2200 roundtrip
  • Ticket: -- free volunteer ticket
  • Hotel: $300 x 6 nights = $1800*
  • Visa: $210
  • Food: $75/day x 6 days = 450
  • Transport (to & from airport): $100

TOTAL: $4760

*Trying to pair up rooms to reduce costs or get them a free room

Anything extra will go to another marginalized person in the Black Python Devs network trying to go to DjangoCon US. This is the second time I've done something like this and last time it was a fantastic success. It's important to see and know that people in the community want to see Black Python Devs there.

If you need more inspiration, Jay Miller's Keynote at PyCon US 2025 brought me and many others to tears. Their authenticity and passion for the community is palpable.
